# Advanced Search

The **Advanced Search** tool in Incident Tracker allows users to run detailed queries across submitted reports. You can filter by multiple fields simultaneously, set custom date ranges, and refine results for in-depth review or data analysis.

## Accessing Advanced Search

1. Go to **Reports and Analytics > Reports**.
2. Click the **Advanced Search** dropdown near the top of the page.
3. Choose a **date range** to define the report window.

> You can search using presets like:
>
> * Today
> * This Month Only
> * This Year
> * All Reports Ever Entered
> * Custom Date Range

## Using Field Filters

To activate a specific filter:

1. Click the **checkbox icon** ⬜ next to the field you want to search.
2. Choose the desired option from the dropdown or enter a keyword.
3. Combine as many filters as needed before clicking **Process Search**.

Fields include:

* Report ID
* Form Fields (specific forms/questions)
* Filed By
* Day of Week
* Status / Priority
* Assigned To
* Location / Category
* Report Body (text)
* Days Stale
* People / Witnesses
* Attachments / Edited / Forms flags

Use the **“NOT”** checkbox next to a field to exclude a specific value from your search (e.g., exclude “Closed” status).

## Running the Search

Once all filters are selected:

1. Click the **Process Search** button at the bottom.
2. Results will appear in the report list with all matching criteria.

If you don’t set a date range, your results will default to the last selected preset.
