# Manage User Groups

User Groups in Incident Tracker allow administrators to efficiently manage permissions and assignments for multiple users simultaneously. This guide covers creating user groups, assigning users, and designating managers for these groups.

## Create a User Group

To create a new user group:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Manage User Groups**.
2. Enter a **Group Name**.
3. Click **Add**.

Choose a descriptive name that reflects the group's purpose or department for easier identification

## Add Users to a Group

To add users to an existing group:

1. Go to **Admin > Manage User Groups**.
2. Click the group name you want to add users to.
3. Click *show group membership*.
4. Select the users from the available list. Selected names are saved to the group right away.

Users can only belong to **one** group at a time.

## Assign a Manager to a User Group

Assigning a manager to a user group will update the manager field for all users in the group.

1. Navigate to **Admin > Manage User Groups**.
2. Click the **group name** you want to add a manager to.
3. In the **Manager** textbox, enter the Manager's name.
4. Be sure the *apply* checkbox is selected for the Manager role.

The assigned manager will appear in the "Manager List" page and can be used in workflows.
