# Part 1 — Customize Your Submit Report Page

Configure the locations, categories, and forms behind your Submit Report experience.

Before your team submits their first report, set up the building blocks that drive your statistics, access controls, and automated alerts.

***

### Step 1 — Configure locations

Incident Tracker supports unlimited locations across three tiers.

You can rename each tier to match your organization.

Examples include **Campus / Building / Room** and **Region / Department / Program**.

Locations drive:

* Incident statistics and filtering
* User access restrictions by location
* Workflow routing and email alerts

See [Manage Locations](/docs/admin-guide/application-information/manage-locations.md) for full setup instructions.
{% endhint %}

***

### Step 2 — Configure categories

Categories support two tiers.

Both tiers are unlimited and customizable.

Like locations, categories are a foundational data point.

They drive:

* Incident statistics and reporting
* User access restrictions by category
* Workflow routing and email alerts

See [Manage Categories](/docs/admin-guide/application-information/manage-categories.md) for full setup instructions.
{% endhint %}

### Step 3 — Build a form

Forms let you capture information beyond the system's default fields.

Any field you add becomes searchable in reports and Advanced Search.

This makes forms a strong way to tailor Incident Tracker to your data needs.

When building your first form:

* Add 3–5 custom fields to keep it manageable
* Try a few field types such as text, dropdown, or checkbox
* Link the form to a category from Step 2

Forms linked to categories appear automatically when a user selects that category on the **Submit Report** page.

See [Manage Forms](/docs/admin-guide/application-information/manage-forms.md) and [Form Assignments](/docs/admin-guide/application-information/manage-forms/form-assignments.md) for full setup instructions.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Checkpoint:** Submit a test report and confirm your locations, categories, and custom form fields appear correctly and save as expected. When this works, you're ready for Part 2.
