# Google Sign-in

Sign in to Incident Tracker with a Google account that matches an existing user ID.

Google Sign-in lets existing users sign in with their Google account.

When this option is enabled, a **Sign in with Google** button appears on the Incident Tracker sign-in page in the web app and mobile app.

***

## How it works

1. The user opens the Incident Tracker sign-in page.
2. The user clicks **Sign in with Google**.
3. The user selects their Google account.
4. Incident Tracker checks for an existing user account with a matching user ID.
5. Incident Tracker checks that the account is marked as third-party.
6. The user is signed in if both checks pass.

## Requirements

To use Google Sign-in:

* Google Sign-in must be enabled.
* The user must already have an Incident Tracker account.
* The Incident Tracker user ID must exactly match the user's Google email address.
* The Incident Tracker account must be marked as third-party.

{% hint style="info" %}
Google Sign-in does not create a new user account. Users can sign in only when an existing Incident Tracker account matches the selected Google email address exactly and the account is marked as third-party.
{% endhint %}
